These words written by David have been on my mind this week as I thought about my present situation of having to raise some last-minute financial support for my work in Paris:
"God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea..."
"Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth." The LORD Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Selah -Psalm 46:1-2, 10-11
I have enjoyed reading the above verses in French -- reading it in another language adds a richness and another dimension to understanding the text that I may not have otherwise.
But I love thinking that He is not only a refuge for us, but that He is my refuge. This week I am seeing the Lord more now as my strength.
The place I can go to for safety when I am feeling anxious.
Seeing the Lord provide recently much of what I need to do the work He has called me to do has made me stop and pause. Pause to contemplate His power and ability. Amen!
